Jerfferon's Cobblers Bench
This cobbler’s bench came from Thomas Jefferson's very own collection, via auctions at Christie’s (http://www.christies.com) and Bonham’s (http://www.bonhams.com/about_us). Purchased by my client who commissioned me to restore it, both auction houses had referred him to me. I greatly enjoyed this restoration- nothing like a bit of American history to add some fun. Picked up from and delivered to Oakmont Community, Santa Rosa CA.
This family heirloom arrived in California from the East Coast traveling in a Conestoga covered wagon as the family fulfilled its Manifest Destiny. When I got it, it had two ribs missing, was in general disrepair and was fragile, nothing that could hold an infant. I steam-bent two hemlock ribs and restored the piece back to original. It was a fun restore; ready to rock the next generation! Picked up from and delivered to Santa Rosa, CA
Dark Mahogany Dining Set
This table and chair set have been in the same family since the early 1800’s. The family has stories of General Sam Houston, elected first president of the Republic of Texas (1836) signing documents at this table following the Battle of the Alamo in that same year. (http://www.thealamo.org/) The piece will live on for many more generations. If only the piece could talk, can you imagine the stories it could tell? Picked up and delivered to Petaluma, CA
Mahogany Dining Table
Custom built by French furniture experts Starck (http://www.starck.com/en/). Refinished with piano-type closed grain lacquer finish- like building a piano, which plays nicely with my early training in restoration. Picked up from and delivered to Occidental, CA.
Antique Rope Bed
I created two new side rails to accommodate a modern day mattress. Originally, there were round poles with pegs to lash ropes around that served as a modern day box spring. The new rails were then finished to match the rest of the bed restoration- no more sag. Picked up from and delivered to Santa Rosa, CA
This lovely piece came to me in several, severely damaged, pieces. I repaired and refinished to its original beauty. Picked up from and delivered to Santa Rosa, CA
This piece was pitched out of a window during a house fire in Forestville. If it were not for the quality of the construction and joinery used to build it, I don't think it would have made it. The piece had good, solid bones and I enjoyed this restoration. Picked up from and delivered to Forestville, CA
Another fun chair restore for long-term clients; pieces are back at home and customer has memories intact. Before and after shots tell the tale:
